¿Qué es PrEP?
Las empresas no están separadas de las comunidades de las que se benefician. La forma en que llevamos a cabo nuestros negocios, y con quién elegimos hacer negocios, da forma al mundo que nos rodea. Creo en la importancia de la salud y el bienestar, incluida la salud sexual, y creo en la importancia del acceso a un cuidado médico de calidad, sin importar quién seas, ni tu estado financiero.
Centro Ararat es una red de clínicas de salud, con una oferta de distintos servicios, empeñados en brindar cuidado médico de calidad a Puerto Rico, con un enfoque específico en la inclusión de comunidades, un cambio que creo muy necesario para nuestra isla. Cuando se me acercaron para hacer una animación sobre el PrEP, una pastilla que se toma a diario que te protege de contraer el VIH, fue un placer decirles que sí. ¿Un proyecto divertido, haciendo lo que amo, por una buena causa? Duh, sign me up!
Humor aparte, realmente fue inspirador poder trabajar en un proyecto tan cool, con una buena causa: el concientizar sobre la salud sexual individual, para todxs.
Fue divertido poder trabajar un proyecto tan desafiante, en el sentido de que fue la primera vez que trabajé este tipo de animación. He trabajado con personajes dentro de mis animaciones, nunca había trabajado un proyecto que enfocaba tanto en ellos. No estaba fuera del alcance de mis capacidades, ¡solo que era distinto!
También fue divertido trabajar directamente con una ilustradora. La animación está empapada con su estilo artístico. Sin ella no habría tenido tanto encanto y personalidad —¡le dio vida a la animación!—.

Parte del desafío de este proyecto que fue tan grande era encontrar a alguien con quien trabajar, en tan poco tiempo. Al principio, comencé a darme cuenta de que no iba a poder trabajar un proyecto de esta magnitud solo, ahí fue que Carla entró y lo hizo posible; te lo agradezco mucho Carla.
Finalmente, quiero agradecer al equipo Ararat también —realmente es inspirador trabajar con ellos— por la oportunidad de poder manejarles este proyecto. Ellos trabajan duro todos los días para brindar un cuidado excelente a todos en su comunidad, y quisiera que más personas tomaran nota de eso y que los emulen. What is PrEP – ¿Qué es PrEP?
Businesses are not separate from the communities they benefit from. The way we conduct our businesses, and who we choose to do business with, shapes the world around us. I believe in the importance of health and wellbeing, including sexual health and wellbeing, and I believe in the importance of access to quality healthcare, no matter who you are, nor your financial status.
Centro Ararat is a network of health clinics, with a range of services aimed at providing quality health care to Puerto Rico, with a specific focus on inclusivity (something I believe is a much needed change on our island). When they approached me to do a video about PrEP, a once-a-day pill that protects you from contracting HIV, I was happy to sign on. A fun project, doing what I love to do, for a good cause? Duh, sign me up!
Humor aside, it was really inspiring to be on such a cool project that had such a good cause behind it: awareness for your sexual health, no matter who you are.
I had an amazing time working on such a challenging project, especially because it was the first of it’s kind for me! Even though I had worked on animations with characters in them, it was the first project I worked on that was so character heavy; not outside the scope of my capabilities, just different!
It was also fun working directly with an illustrator, her art style is written all over this animation. Without her it wouldn’t have had so much charm and character; she really brought it to life!

Part of the challenge with such a large project was finding someone to work with on such a short notice. Early on, I started noticing that I wasn’t going to be able to manage such a large project by myself, then Carla came in and made it possible; thank you for that.
I also want to thank team Ararat (who really are inspiring to work with), for the opportunity to manage this project for them. These people work hard every day to provide care to everyone in their community, and I want more people to take note and emulate that. We need more people like them in Puerto Rico.
