Versions

Versions are secondary deliverables that are similar enough to the original content to not be considered a completely new deliverable, but different enough to not be the same deliverable. Versions include changes in aspect ratio (frame size), light changes in script, scene or image omissions, etc. Secondary deliverables that have at least half or more of their essential elements changed are considered new projects and will be charged as a new deliverable.

Versions receive a discount based on their similarity to the original content —unique, similar, approximate—.

Similarity

Similarity refers to the degree to which a version of a deliverable is similar to the main deliverable. This similarity is measured using the metric of the Extent of Change (E_d) and is categorized into four levels, each reflecting the proportion of change from the main deliverable:

    • Approximate

      • Similarity of 85% and above.

      • Discount = 85%

    • Similar

      • Similarity of 70% and above.

      • Discount = 70%

    • Unique

      • Similarity of 60% and above.

      • Discount = 60%

    • Main

      • Similarity of less than 60%.

      • Difference of greater than 40%.

      • Discount = 0%

Revisions

Every project includes two rounds of revisions to get you to version three. Extra revisions are 10% the value of the video, compounding per round of revision.

Revision Periods

  • Freelancer Freeze:

    • During a Freelancer Freeze period we ask the freelancer to respond within 2 work hours of having been given a revision in writing.

    • The Freeze period lasts for 8 work hours, or 1 business day, after having been given a revision in writing.

    • With a Priority Revisions add-on, this period lasts for 16 work hours, or 2 business days, and the freelancer’s response time is within 1 work hour.

  • Freelancer Hold:

    • The Freelancer Hold period lasts for 16 work hours, or 2 business days, after the initial 8 work hours of the Freeze period.

    • During this Hold period Freelancer is asked to respond within 6 work hours.

    • With a Priority Revisions add-on, this period lasts for 24 work hours, or 3 business days, and the freelancer’s response time is within 4 work hours.

  • Freelancer Reschedule:

    • After the first two periods have been finalized, the time for a freelancer to commence work on a client’s revision must be rescheduled to the freelancer’s next availability, or, upon client’s request, it can be scheduled with another freelancer with similar competency as the freelancer or above.

Payment

  • Payment & Invoicing

    • Payment is due upon the completion of RC1, or on the nearest payment period. For monthly clients, payment is due on the last day of every month. For clients with roll-over contracts, seconds that are not used within the coverage period are lost.

    • Invoices for services requested beyond the scope of your contract are sent on the 15th and/or the 30th, or last day of the month (in the case of February).

  • Late Payments

    • A payment is considered late on the 15th day after having been invoiced, and the accrued interest is applied after the 30th day.

    • Late payments incur a penalty of $15, and a daily compounding interest (excluding weekends) at a rate of 0.5%. Accrual begins from the point of being considered late.

    • Late payment accrual applies for up to 6 months. After which your balance may be sent to collection.

2D Animation rate does not include estimates for key-visuals and/or storyboard. Key-visuals are required for all animations whether provided by client or created as part of our animation design service. We define them as a significant or primary image, element, or scene in a video or animation that plays a central role in conveying the core message, theme, or concept of the project. This could include main characters, pivotal scenes, logos, or any other visually dominant components that require particular attention to detail in the design and animation stages. These visuals set the tone for the design style, aesthetic, and overall impact of the video or animation.

3D animation rate does not include estimates for rendered elements, key-visuals and/or storyboard. Key-visuals and storyboards are estimated the same as 2D Animation Design. All rendered elements must be estimated individually per visual, using the 3D Design Element Calculator.

*** Projects orders are considered satisfied and complete upon reaching Needs Approval status, or Rough Cut 1 (RC1), regardless of subsequent revisions. The invoiced amount is determined by the value of the highest runtime created. Edits or revisions reducing a video project's runtime, after achieving the highest runtime, will not reduce the invoiced amount.
